This professional workshop, offered by Dr. Sørina Higgins for Northwind Institute, will guide students in writing as clearly and astutely as the Oxford Inklings did in their time. In the first hour, Dr. Higgins will cover seven principles, including: approaching a text with intellectual hospitality, paying close attention to the concrete contents of words, avoiding common errors, crafting effective analogies, and inviting the reader into the text. In the second hour, the first five people to register may submit a writing sample paragraph to workshop based on those principles. Everyone will have the chance to ask questions, offer suggestions, and join the discussion.
